Another return to Aragon: that of Joan Mir
The Aragon Grand Prix, where there will be the return to the track of Marc Marquez, will also see the return of the Suzuki rider, future teammate of the eight-time world champion, Joan Mir.
“Team Suzuki Ecstar will welcome Joan Mir back to the track this weekend in Spain as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury. After suffering a heavy crash on the first lap of the Austrian Grand Prix on August 21, Mir suffered an injury to the talus bone and ligaments in his right ankle. On medical advice, Joan underwent 15 days of rest and recovery, skipping the San Marino GP. Now, three weeks after the accident, the Mallorcan rider has consulted again with Dr. Juan Garcías and feels ready to return to action,” the statement added. Before the first sessions of the weekend, further medical checks will be carried out at the circuit, as is customary when a rider returns from an injury, but Mir is confident he can perform at a good level,” the Japanese team’s note read.
Mir himself confirmed his presence at his home circuit, “I am very happy to be able to go to Aragon, it was not easy to miss a race and watch it on TV at home! I recovered well from my ankle injury and I think my fitness level will be around 90 percent this weekend, which is not bad.”
