F1, Ferrari gives a chance to Robert Shwartzman
The 23-year-old driver will be behind the wheel of the Rossa in FP1 in Austin
On the eve of his 23rd birthday, Robert Shwartzman can already celebrate an enviable present: in fact, it is today’s news that the 2019 Formula 3 champion will be at the wheel of Ferrari in the first free practice session of the US Grand Prix in Austin, round number 19 of the 2022 Formula 1 season.
Next October 21, therefore, the Russian driver (who as of this year races with an Israeli license, taking advantage of his dual passport) will take the place of one between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in the session that will open the American weekend: the name of the starting driver who will remain at “rest,” starting his own weekend from FP2, has not yet been announced.
Shwartzman, a Ferrari Driver Academy driver, won not only the 2019 F3 championship but also the Toyota Racing Series in 2018.
