Former Italian tennis champion Nicola Pietrangeli commented on Roger Federer’s farewell to the racquet this way: “When a great champion stops, and for me Federer was the greatest, it is always painful. For him, who closes an extraordinary chapter of his existence, and for the millions of fans who idolize him around the world.”
“At 41, however, it is an inevitable choice, especially after all the knee problems he has had in the last three years. He stops, but in the history of tennis his feats will remain indelible,” are the words reported by Ubitennis.
