The Polish talent is fresh off excellent performances at Eurobasket 2022

His Poland’s tough loss to France will prevent him from playing for the gold medal, but Mateusz Ponitka remains one of the best surprises of the 2022 edition of Eurobasket. So much so that the same Polish talent, signed only a few weeks ago by Pallacanestro Reggiana, has returned to animate market-related discussions: there has been talk, in fact, of interest in him by Virtus Bologna.

On the sidelines of the challenge against the French, as reported by ‘Eurohoops’, Ponitka wanted to respond to a reporter who spoke to him precisely about the hypothesis of an immediate transfer to the Vu Nere, with rather clear words: “On Thursday I take a flight to Bologna… Reggio Emilia is only 40 minutes away.”

Ponitka, at least in words, thus confirms the choice of Unahotels Reggio Emilia, with which he signed a three-month agreement with an option until the end of the season. The very nature of the contract, however, does not rule out surprises ahead of the start of the championship.
