Yeman Crippa is already ready to return to racing
Yeman Crippa’s program
Twice on the road in early October: that’s Yeman Crippa’s plan. The European 10,000-meter champion and continental bronze medalist in the 5,000 meters at the Olympiastadion in Munich has defined the two competitive outings that will see him engaged in the coming weeks, to continue an extraordinary season and, not least, to collect the applause of the many fans who were thrilled by his exploits in Bavaria. The Fiamme Oro’s Azzurro, who in recent days, looking very elegant, walked the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival, will be in action in his native Trento on Saturday, October 1 for the Giro al Sas, edition No. 75, one of the races that the Trentino middle distance runner holds most dear to his heart (he finished on the podium, third, in 2018), just over ten kilometers to be run through the streets of the historic center of his own city. After seven days, Crippa will still be competing, this time in Forlì, the absolute protagonist of the first edition of the Night of the Stars, a 10-kilometer competition among the city streets: the organizers have also announced the presence of another Italian medalist, 3000 steeplechase bronze medalist Osama Zoghlami (Aeronautica), and in the women’s event, European steeplechase champion Luiza Gega (Albania) over the 5-kilometer distance.
Road running, by her own admission, will be increasingly present in her career in the future. But this season, which has given so many satisfactions on the track, has also highlighted Yeman Crippa’s qualities on the road, starting with the Italian record in Naples in the half marathon in February, with the first (and so far only) descent of an Italian under sixty minutes (59:26). A result to which the athlete coached by Massimo Pegoretti matched another record-breaking exploit, this time European, in April, with a time of 13:14 in the German town of Herzogenaurach in the 5 km road race. Waiting for the marathon, and a debut that does not yet have a date but is already highly anticipated.
