Marcell Jacobs prepares for wedding and announces news
“I would also like to run the 200.”
The day of the fateful “yes” has finally arrived. On Saturday afternoon in the Torre San Marco in Gardone Riviera, Marcell Jacobs and his Nicole will be united in marriage. Interviewed exclusively by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ a few days before the long-awaited nuptials, the reigning Olympic and European champion recounted the excitement and plans related to making his union official, not forgetting to talk about the competitive programs already set for 2023.
“Everything is ready, yes. I am calm and looking forward to it. There will be 170 people there, our families and close friends. My father? He didn’t come, he stood me up. I haven’t even heard from him this time. We will leave on the 24th, after the last commitments already made: a training session at the Arena in Milan. We will spend two weeks of absolute relaxation in Bali, in three different hotels between sea and forest, while the last seven days we will move to a resort in the Maldives. On October 15 we will be back in Italy,” he began.
He then leaves with a review of the season just past, with an eye to the future: “It was a good year, with two major medals out of three, both of the best possible color. Everything got complicated between May and the end of August, from the injuries I still learned valuable lessons. This year everything was more complicated after we were in Kenya and I contracted the virus. In hindsight, some things I would not do again. With Camossi we have set goals: the first will be the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul in early March, the second the World Championships in Budapest in August. And then I would also like to run the 200 to try to double my commitments at the European Championships in Rome in 2024,” he concluded.
