“Juan Carlos is my second father and I wouldn’t trade him for anyone.”

Rising to prominence after a fantastic 2022, which gave him not only his first title in a Slam event but also the number one position in the world rankig, Calros Alcaraz is literally besieged by the national and international press. Interviews are flowing in for the new phenomenon of world tennis, also called upon to have his say on the announced retirement of Roger Federer, one of the greatest ever. Speaking as a special guest on the program ‘El Hormiguero,’ the phenomenon from Murcia answered questions about the figure of the Swiss champion, including in relation to what might happen once he retires for good.

“I am very sorry I could not play with Federer. In any case a 0-0 balance is better than 0-1,” he began jokingly. “If one day Roger offered to coach me, I would say no, however. Juan Carlos is my second father and I would not change him with anyone.” Alcaraz then revealed why the sometimes excessive use of bunts in his game: “When I take a drop shot I do it either for strategy or because I’m mentally blocked and I don’t know what to do. Padel? I love the sport and whenever I can I play it. It is a very fun sport to play and to watch. I like it a lot, although Juan Carlos (Ferrero) beats me,” he concluded.
