MotoGp, Alex Rins dejected: “It was a really bad race.”
Alex Rins disappointed after withdrawal at Motegi
It was a race to forget for Alex Rins at the Motegi circuit, where many local fans had gathered to support him and his teammate Takuya Tsuda, belonging to the Japanese Suzuki team.
Penalized already by having to start in eighteenth position, Rins, on the other hand, had a great start, soon moving up to twelfth place, in a very competitive group of riders. As the laps went by, however, the Spanish rider began to lose positions due to a problem of loss of front tire pressure, caused by a bend on the rim in a violent braking in the early laps. Thus, Alex was forced to pit again on lap 15.
Visibly bitter, he spoke this way at the end of the race, “It was a really bad race for us. The start went well and I recovered several positions, but then at turn 3 I decided to overtake some drivers on the outside, on the kerb. After that I started to lose feeling on the front, it felt like the tire was deflating little by little. I lost a lot of positions and felt I was about to fall off at every corner, so I went back to the pits. My crew confirmed an air leak caused by a dent on the rim. I wish things had turned out differently, I really wanted to reward the fans for their support.”
