Scariolo optimistic for Italy

“Olimpia and Virtus are owned by two very big businessmen who invest a huge amount of money to get results. I think our rivalry can be more of a driving force for other clubs.” This was said in an interview granted to ‘La Stampa’ by Sergio Scariolo, coach of the Bianconeri and fresh winner of the European Championships at the helm of Spain.

“Italy? More than the disappointment of not qualifying for the medal zone, I would dwell on the success of the expedition and optimism for the future. Italy already has decisive players in the league, in the Euroleague and even in the Nba, others like my two playmakers at Virtus, Pajola and Mannion, with important margins for improvement and an up-and-coming phenomenon like Banchero,” adds the Brescia native.
