Olimpia Milano-Virtus Bologna, Gianmarco Pozzecco believes absences will be crucial
Italian national team coach believes absences will make a difference
Italbasket coach Gianmarco Pozzecco spoke to the ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’ ahead of the Italian Supercoppa Final 4, which will see Olimpia Milano, Virtus Bologna, Dinamo Sassari and Bertram Tortona involved.
“The premise is that no one can expect that the 4 teams on the court can already express the best of their respective potentials. The first title of the season serves to raise the self-confidence of the winner and of a possible surprise but it certainly cannot trigger negative aftershocks among the other teams,” explained the former point guard.
“Olimpia and Virtus are the most titled teams, the ones that have always gone all the way to win titles in the last two years. But both come to this Super Cup with many absences that the winner of the first semifinal could exploit in the final,” he continued, pointing to the weight that injuries may have.
“I will primarily be rooting for my Azzurri. But also seeing Milan and Dinamo on the court makes me excited, they know well how I think,” concluded the coach of the Italian national team.
