Carlos Sainz: “We plan to give Red Bull a hard time, we don’t think about Mercedes”
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz says he is optimistic ahead of the Singapore GP: “It’s a nice place to race. The weather can always play a role and there could be rain over the weekend. And then the bumps could make it more difficult. Are we competitive? We think we can give Red Bull a hard time.”
According to Sainz, it will be crucial to do well in qualifying: “Here, if you are ahead in the race, you have more opportunities to close with the win, for example, than in Monza. Standings? It’s not that we are looking at Mercedes behind us, rather we want to get back to victory. We must not have a worse pace than Mercedes and we want to fight with Red Bull.”
