Fernando Alonso shuts down market rumors about Max Verstappen
During an intervention at the microphones of the "Reuters" news agency, Spanish driver Fernando Alonso, among other topics discussed, wanted to comment in no uncertain terms on the continuing market rumors related to a possible early separation between Max Verstappen and Red Bull.
"An'eventual separation between Max and Red Bull è obvious that it would have a major impact on the driver market. Despite all the statements and rumors, however, I am convinced that there is zero chance of him changing teams at the end of this season" began the Aston Martin driver.
"I remain focused on myself, by the summer I will decide whether to continue racing and at that point if I decide to continue I will evaluate what will be the best possible choice for my career" added Fernando Alonso.
A few days before the Japanese GP, in addition, Max Verstappen himself responded with a joke to a question regarding his future, which, at the same time, raised some concern among F1 fans: “I do not even know if next year I will run in Formula 1. I have a contract with Red Bull until 2028. First I have to figure out if I will still want to drive a Red Bull, or in general if I will still want to drive in Formula 1. I do not know my future, for now I am very happy soì".
