F1, Ferrari invokes FIA and thunders against Red Bull
“We expect strictness and transparency from the FIA, whom we trust 100 percent.”
It is the case of the day in Formula 1. While at the Singapore circuit, in the second free practice session, the two Ferraris of Sainz and Leclerc are flying by leaving Russell and Verstappen behind, there is concern at Red Bull’s home about the news of an alleged budget cap overrun by the Austrian team. The FIA has already announced audits of the 2021 accounts: penalties, even serious ones, could be imposed, it could move to the ” penalty phase that concerns the implications that there were in 2021, 2022 and 2023,” Ferrari Ds Laurent Mekies told Sky microphones.
The Cavallino executive addressed all aspects of the issue-which would also affect, however, Aston Martin to a lesser extent-during his speech, “Vioation of the budget cap? We consider it very serious, we expect exemplary management from the FIA. We trust the FIA 100 percent, which has taken a strong stance in recent months. We expect strictness and transparency to go all race with the same rules. The implications are gigantic,” he began.
“The important thing is to establish the overrun, then we confirm that these are the same rules for everyone. The thing on which we expect maximum severity is precisely to assess whether the budget cap has been exceeded. We understand that for fans it is not nice to look back on an achievement in the past, but even more important is that a penalty has real value. If not for the past certainly for the future,” he concluded.
