Sampdoria, Marco Giampaolo exonerated
Fatal sixth defeat in eight league games
The 0-3 home loss suffered against Monza cost Marco Giampaolo dearly: the 55-year-old coach was in fact exonerated by the Blucerchiata club a few hours after the Marassi rout.
“U.C. Sampdoria announces that it has relieved Marco Giampaolo from the position of coach in charge of the first team,” reads the club’s note. “The technician and the members of his staff are to be thanked for the seriousness and professionalism shown during his time with the club.
Giampaolo is paying for a nightmarish start to the season: in eight matches he has collected just two points, the result of draws against Juventus and Lazio. The one with Monza is the fourth consecutive defeat for the Blucerchiati, who occupy last place in the standings after the eighth round of Serie A.
