Tottenham will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Tuesday. Antonio Conte, speaking at a press conference, presented the challenge against the Germans as follows: “We have no new injuries. Ben Davies recovers, he will be on the bench. Kulusevski is still out and so is Lucas. I don’t know when Dejan will return, I hope quickly, but I don’t know if for the next one or for the home one against Eintracht.”
On social media several Spurs fans questioned why Conte does not choose Djed Spence: “Fans have to be fans. I understand that they can think about everything but I see every day what happens in training and I try to do the best for the team. If I haven’t decided to pick a player it’s because I think he’s not ready yet, it’s simple. We are talking about a young man with good prospects but I repeat, I try to choose the best team. I’m not stupid, I don’t want to lose. I try to put the best team, to choose the best team.”
In closing, the former Juventus helmsman wanted to respond to insiders who criticize him for his teams’ not always spectacular play: “In England many times teams concede 6, 7 goals. In my career it has never happened. I don’t like playing open, conceding a lot of space. I think I can teach soccer to many people.”
