Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini free in Florence
The words of Paolo Lorenzi
Everything is ready for the Unicredit Florence Open.
Paolo Lorenzi, as tournament director, spoke about Jannik Sinner’s still-in-doubt participation, “He got injured on Saturday in Sofia and was forced to cancel from Astana. We are in constant contact with his team, he still has to have tests to assess the true extent of the injury, but there is a good chance to see him at the start. He and Berrettini have refused to rich engagements in order to come and play in Florence for free.”
“From Monday to Saturday there will be a daytime session starting at 11 a.m. and an evening session with two matches starting at 7:30 p.m., while on Sunday the final will be at 3 p.m.,” he added at the press conference. “The entry list is extraordinary for a 250, we have players like Felix Auger-Aliassime who just beat Alcaraz, Brandon Nakashima who won a tournament, and our players like Sonego and Musetti. It will be an important opportunity for Jannik and Matteo to earn points towards the Atp Finals and for Nardi, Maestrelli and Passaro to qualify for the Next Gen Atp Finals.”
