Remco Evenepoel now not ruling out Giro and Tour
Remco Evenepoel’s words
Remco Evenepoel spoke to the Belgian press about his future. “I was with a friend of mine when I heard about the offer from Ineos: it was a surprise, but I can also say that it was not the only team that was interested in me. I am tied to Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl until 2026 and we are both happy with this contract.”
The world champion will not race Lombardia: “To race a Monumento you have to be rested and have had a good recovery. I raced the Vuelta and flew to Australia for the World Championships and today I don’t have that freshness that an important race like Lombardia requires. That’s why I decided to race in Binche, to have fun and see what it feels like to race in the rainbow jersey.”
Closing remarks on Giro and Tour: “With the team there are definite plans to follow, and before we choose which big tour to do, we want to see the elevations and then the time trials. Only after seeing the routes will we make our choice. The Tour is a very important race and I am only 22 years old and there is time to race such a demanding race.”
