Luca Baraldi spoke about the upcoming Euroleague debut.

Virtus Bologna CEO Luca Baraldi, interviewed by ‘Il Corriere dello Sport’, spoke about the upcoming debut in the Euroleague, a competition from which the Bologna team has been missing for 14 years.

“A huge satisfaction. Zanetti in 2017 had promised it within five years along with winning the Scudetto. Commitments kept, giving a backbone to the dub, which today is an example for many and not only in basketball. Then we are happy for our fans, they are of the highest level and deserve this stage. As are the more than 100 sponsors whom we thank and give more visibility to. Their role is fundamental: the more there are, the better we can manage the costs for the fans, it is also a social partnership,” said the Bolognese club executive.

“To be among the top eight in the Euroleague? That’s the main goal, to keep playing it,” Luca Baraldi continued, hopeful.

Last season, Virtus Bologna saw the confirmation of the Scudetto won in 2021 slip away only in the playoff final, lost 4-2 to Olimpia Milano. The highlight of the Felsinians’ year, however, came on May 11, with the conquest of the Eurocup, won in the final against the Turkish Bursaspor. This success gave Scariolo’s men a pass for the 2022-23 Euroleague season, a competition in which the Bolognese have not participated for 14 years.
