Milan-Chelsea, Stefano Pioli did not keep his mouth shut
The Rossoneri coach even refused to review the penalty for Chelsea in the post-match
AC Milan comes out of the Champions League doubleheader with broken bones. After the clear defeat six days ago at Stamford Bridge – also the daughter of a record-breaking injury list – at San Siro the Rossoneri again lost the confrontation with the English, facilitated, however, by the dubious decision of referee Siebert.
The German referee on the 18th minute awarded a penalty to the Blues resulting in the ejection of Fikayo Tomori, who was guilty of irregularly interrupting a clear goal opportunity. Amidst lively protests from the players on the field and the crowd in the stands, the Teutonic whistle blower continued to make almost one-sided mistakes, burdening Milan with cards and leaving a great deal of bitterness throughout the Meneghino environment.
At the microphones of Mediaset Infinity+, in the post-match, Stefano Pioli had his say on the refereeing: “I don’t want to review the penalty. I think it is too obvious and too easy to judge. I told the referee what I thought at the end of the game, I don’t speak such fluent English but I think he understood,” the Parma coach began.
“We have to believe in passing the round, we have to go to Zagreb and play our soccer and, if we are good at winning there, then we will play here with Salzburg. It is a pity we did not give a different performance at San Siro, indeed: we did not have the chance to do so. The penalty episode we paid dearly for it. We thank the fans for their support. If we managed to keep the match balanced today, much of the credit goes to our fans,” he concluded.
