Hellas Verona, no white smoke yet for post-Cioffi: two options
Hellas Verona has exonerated Cioffi after defeat against Salernitana
There is still no white smoke for Hellas Verona’s new coach after the exoneration of Gabriele Cioffi, which came following the defeat against Salernitana, the sixth in nine league matches.
The names in contention to replace the former Udinese coach are those of the coach of the Primavera team of the Veronese club, Salvatore Bocchetti and that of Diego Lopez, who in his career has occupied the benches of Cagliari, Bologna, Palermo and Brescia among others.
The Scaliger eleven is fresh off four consecutive defeats, the last coming at the Arechi against Davide Nicola’s men. While waiting for the new coach to be chosen, the training of the Gialloblù players, will be directed precisely by Bocchetti, who, however, does not yet possess the UEFA license.
In the last two years the Scudetto has been won by Milanese teams, first Inter and then AC Milan. Previously, for nine seasons in a row, it had gone to Juventus, which was able to win it with first Antonio Conte on the bench (three successes for the Salento native), then Massimiliano Allegri (five) and then Maurizio Sarri, who, however, was later replaced by Andrea Pirlo. At the beginning of the millennium, the last two Scudetti went to teams with non-vertical striped jerseys: Lazio won it in 2000, Roma in 2001.
