America’s Cup: Luna Rossa launched the new prototype
In Cagliari inaugurated the prototype of the boat that will participate in the next edition of the prestigious sailing competition
The new prototype of Luna Rossa, the boat that will participate in the next edition of the America’s Cup, scheduled for 2024, was launched in the waters of Cagliari. The boat will be the basis for building the AC75 that will participate in the competition scheduled in two years in Barcelona.
Skipper Max Sirena expressed all his pride: Seeing the Luna Rossa prototype in the water is a source of great pride, because it is a very innovative project on which we will focus all the development that will then flow into the new AC75 with which we will participate in the 37th America’s Cup,” are the words reported by Oasport.
“It has been a complicated process; we have pushed in all areas, even drawing experience from the last edition, to optimize fundamental aspects, outline and increase aerodynamic and hydrodynamic development. For Luna Rossa’s challenge, this launch is a real kick-off. Beyond the technical usefulness, this prototype has also allowed us to start off in the right gear and immediately make a team, which is essential, as many people in the various departments have changed.”
