Juventus, Gigi Mastrangelo categorical about Max Allegri
Gigi Mastrangelo spoke about Juve’s difficulties.
Luigi Mastrangelo, former volleyball player and big Juventus fan, gave an interview to “TvPlay_Calciomercato.it” in which he analyzed the difficult moment of the Bianconeri.
The former Lube and Piedmont among others rejected the retreat as a solution to get out of the crisis: “You definitely do not get out of these situations with the retreat as Juventus is doing. We are not talking about kids, but champions who have won a lot. Going into retreat I have always seen it, as when it happened to us, as a punishment. I never liked such a gesture from coaches or clubs. These are moments that all teams go through, in the last five years I never remember good starts for Juventus, which always recovered in the long run. We also won the Scudetto once by starting as badly as we did this year. There are several new players who have joined this year, there is only work to be done, other solutions I don’t know.”
So he was categorical about a possible exoneration of Massimiliano Allegri: “No, absolutely not.”
Mastrangelo then admitted the lack of someone like Paul Pogba: “Definitely, we all know Pogba’s qualities. There is to say that there are so many injuries, he didn’t even start and got injured, he was a good 40% of the team.” And he defended Leonardo Bonucci: “He was left a bit alone, once there was the support for example of Chiellini. Is he not a leader? Bonucci I see him as a leader of the team. Together with Buffon and Chiellini he has made a difference by also working mentally on the rest of the team. I expect something more from the youngsters, for example from Chiesa, when he returns, I expect a little more. It’s a time when you have to put everyone to work for the team and the coach has to learn how to manage them all. There are some who are older than others but overall it is always everyone’s fault to get out of this difficult moment.”
Finally, an inevitable question about the Italvolley women’s semifinal: “I against Brazil was practically always in trouble, it’s a very good match but it’s also an inside-out match. When it is so decisive usually ours something extra always brings it out.”
