Matteo Berrettini back on court next week: announcement
Matteo Berrettini will play the ATP 250 in Naples, Italy.
After a disappointing second-round loss at the ATP 250 in Florence against Spain’s Roberto Carballes Baena, Matteo Berrettini has decided to restart at the Naples tournament, scheduled to begin Monday, Oct. 17.
The Italian tennis player announced via his Instagram profile, “Thank you Florence for the support and affection you have given me in these days despite the result was not what I had hoped for. After talking with my team, I am happy to announce that I will participate in the Tennis Napoli Cup next week.”
Berrettini will be able to participate thanks to a wildcard granted by the tournament organizers, who did not think twice about the request of the number two of Italian tennis.
The term ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) refers to the association that groups all male professional tennis players from all corners of the world.
The ATP’s primary task is to protect the interests of the players and also to organize essential services, such as, for example, the drafting of the world ranking, called the ATP ranking, and tournament planning.
