Spezia loses Simone Bastoni to injury

Simone Bastoni, a defender for Spezia but often employed in the midfielder role, had to leave training due to injury. Tests he underwent reported bad news: injury to the rectus femoris.

This was made known by the Ligurian club in a statement released on its official website: “Spezia Calcio announces that the diagnostic examinations to which the player Simone Bastoni, who left the last training session prematurely, has undergone, showed an injury to the right rectus femoris. The player has already undertaken the appropriate rehabilitation path.”

The Juventus club has not announced the recovery time, but surely an injury requires at least three weeks of stop, with the risk that it could lengthen. The hope for coach Gotti is to have him back before the World Cup break but it cannot be ruled out that the Bianconeri outfielder may not return until 2023.

For the past two years the Scudetto has been won by Milanese teams, first Inter and then AC Milan. Previously, for nine seasons in a row, it had gone to Juventus, which was able to win it with first Antonio Conte on the bench (three wins for the Salento man), then Massimiliano Allegri (five) and then Maurizio Sarri, who, however, was later replaced by Andrea Pirlo. At the beginning of the millennium, the last two Scudetti went to teams with non-vertical striped jerseys: Lazio won it in 2000, Roma in 2001.
