Auctioning the most controversial ball in history: the price is insane
On Nov. 16 at London-based Graham Budd Auctions the most controversial ball in history, the one with which Diego Armando Maradona thrust into England’s goal with his hand during Argentina-England, the quarterfinal of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, will be auctioned off.
“It’s part of soccer history and it’s the right time to share it with the world,” said Ali Bin Nasser, the Tunisian referee who officiated the match and current owner of the artifact, which has an estimated value of around 3 million pounds. Would-be buyers can submit bids by Oct. 28, and the auction will be streamed.
