F1, Pierre Gasly open-hearted about switching to Alpine
Pierre Gasly will leave AlphaTauri to move to Alpine
The AlphaTauri driver spoke, interviewed by the official Formula 1 website, about his imminent switch to Alpine. In fact, the French driver will leave the Italian team at the end of the season, where he arrived in 2019.
“They immediately understood the opportunity presented to me and also my desire to start something new and my will to fight at the top of the grid, especially Helmut Marko and Christian Horner: I had long conversations with Helmut. I was close to seeing the tears in Franz Tost’s eyes when he got the news, because we obviously have a very strong relationship and have worked very well together. This was a solution that was discussed with all parties involved. It was harder for some to accept than for others, but in the end everyone understood what an opportunity it represented for me. I am very grateful for that,” explained the 1996-class transalpine.
Pierre Gasly had made his debut with AlphaTauri, at the time Toro Rosso, in the 2017-18 season, then a move to Red Bull, to return with the Italian stable in 2019.
