Premier League, surreal Sunday: Leeds-Arsenal suspended for 40 minutes
Technical problems and confusion among those present at Elland Road
It was a surreal afternoon experienced by the thousands of Leeds and Arsenal fans who flocked to Elland Road on Sunday to follow their favorite team. Just seventy seconds after kickoff, in fact, referee Chris Kavanagh was forced to suspend the match, due to “technical problems.”
As the ‘Guardian’ reported, it would be technical difficulties that prevented the match director from communicating with both his assistants and the Var room, conditions that therefore prevented the match from running smoothly.
Only after forty minutes did the situation return to normal: the players of both teams were thus able to re-enter the field, resuming the match from where they had interrupted it.
