Olimpia Milano, Giuseppe Poeta talks about his new role
“I had this opportunity mainly on a training level, and I decided to retire,” said Peppe Poeta
Giuseppe Poeta, now a former basketball player and assistant to Gianmarco Pozzecco with the national team and Ettore Messina at Olimpia Milano, as reported by ‘La Repubblica,’ expressed his feelings about his new role.
Giuseppe Poeta said, “I am of the idea that in life there is a time for everything, my career as a player was naturally on the decline, I had this opportunity especially on a formative level and I decided to retire despite having another year on my contract and regardless of what will be my future which I don’t even want to think about. My only goal is to draw as much as possible from this experience.”
“I’m very pragmatic, if I had come to a mid-level club probably the desire to play again would be strong, but here you see the intensity of the guys in training and what Messina demands of them and I’m aware that I wouldn’t make it. And that gives me inner peace,” he added.
Finally, he concluded with a comment on his idea of basketball: “The reality is that I don’t have it, I put everything in the cauldron of experiences and then I will try to process it in a personal way. For the time being I draw on my knowledge of Messina, his depth of analysis in the details as, in the national team, the trust Pozzecco gives the players and the way he communicates with them.”
