Yamaha centaur Quartararo encouraged by good Friday and the difficulties of rival Pecco Bagnaia

Fabio Quartararo is satisfied after Friday’s free practice in Malaysia. Unlike title rival Pecco Bagnaia, the reigning world champion managed to place in the top ten and virtually qualify for Q2.

“In the dry my feeling is good, I was able to push right away,” he explained. “The first run in the afternoon was difficult, but from the second on I was immediately much faster. I wanted to put the slicks on at the end of the session, but there were only seven minutes left and I didn’t want to stop and do only one or two laps. So I decided to continue.”

“We often struggle in mixed conditions with wet patches on the track, but it was much better in the end,” concluded the Frenchman. “Today was a good day, I had a lot of fun.
