Ducati, doubts about Pecco Bagnaia: Davide Tardozzi loses patience
Ducati team manager Tardozzi: “You keep belittling Bagnaia but he is always in front”
Pecco Bagnaia is two points away from the first MotoGp World Championship of his career, but in MotoGp the alleged team orders at Ducati continue to hold sway, which even in Sepang have caused discussion despite the duel between the Piedmontese rider and Enea Bastianini.
Ducati team manager Davide Tardozzi, on the other hand, emphasized in the post-race session Bagnaia’s absolute value, which he said was often underestimated: “There is a tendency to belittle Bagnaia on social media and in some media, but how can you say he is not a champion? Did you see the start he made? He has won 7 races this season, and even when he falls he is always in front.”
“The potential of this guy should be recognized,” thundered the Ducati executive. “So many have his bike, but in the end he is in front. He has shown that he is strong in the head, he has shown the determination of a very strong rider.”
Tardozzi is not at all superstitious when talking about the title: “Did we win? Anything can happen, but 99% yes. The dualism with Bastianini in 2023? Dall’Igna, Ciabatti and I will do everything we can to manage it as best we can.”
In As, the team manager went on to explain the conciliabolo with Dall’Igna at the pit wall during the Bagnaia-Bastianini duel: “He was worried, he asked us if we should intervene, but we decided not to because we trust in the common sense of our riders.”
