Audi-Sauber: official agreement starting in 2026
After announcing its entry into Formula 1 during a press conference at the Belgian Grand Prix in Spa, Audi has made official its agreement with Sauber, which will become the official team of the German automaker, starting in 2026.
The official statement released on the Four Rings brand’s website, in fact, reads the willingness to acquire a stake in Sauber Group although it is not clarified whether it concerns a majority stake – which would thus allow Audi control -, or a minority stake.
As reported by Motorsport.com, Frederic Vasseur, Sauber’s team principal, commented on the agreement’s officiality as follows, “The partnership between Audi and Sauber Motorsport is a fundamental step for our team that will allow us to continue to move closer to the front rows of the grid. Becoming Audi’s official team is not only an honor and a great responsibility, but also the best option for the future, and we are fully confident that we will be able to help this great house achieve the goals it has set for itself with the new Formula 1 project.”
