F1, budget cap case: Red Bull settles, final chapter today
BBC assures that the final ruling will be known today
The soap opera related to the budget cap case is in its final chapters. According to the BBC, a press conference is expected today at 6:30 p.m. in Mexico City where the final sanction against Red Bull will be unveiled.
According to Autosport reports, Red Bull has reportedly decided to settle. The Austrian manufacturer is expected to face two measures: fine and curtailment of the 2023 budget cap (in particular, there is talk of an economic penalty of $1.8 million) and reduction of the simulation hours for 2023 and 2024 (from the allowed 2,000 to a maximum of 1,500).
It was Sebastian Vettel who was the first driver to win a world championship with Red Bull. The German put everyone in line for four years in a row, from 2010 to 2013. The Austrian stable returned to success in 2021 thanks to Dutchman Max Verstappen, with the son of art repeating the following year. If there was a battle to the last in 2021, that was not the case in 2022.
