Maranello team principal Mattia Binotto: “I’m not worried, we are the ones who stopped.”

The race for second place in the Formula 1 World Championship constructors’ standings is more open than ever after the clear progress of Mercedes, which in Mexico clearly beat Ferrari, which appeared for the first time to be decidedly behind the German team.

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto after the Mexican Grand Prix commented on Mercedes’ growth this way, “They are coming back because they are developing more than us. But I’m not worried because we have stopped instead, to focus better on 2023. We could have grown more, but there was not the economic availability to do that because of the budget cap.”

Binotto in any case thinks Ferrari will end the season worthily: “In Singapore we were very competitive, in Suzuka we were not as fast as Max, in Austin we were competitive in qualifying but not so much in Race. Here it was worse, but I hope it is not a trend but an exception,” the words taken from Auto, Motor und Sport.
