Fernando Alonso calls Max Verstappen to the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Alonso dreams of racing with Verstappen at Le Mans
Fernando Alonso recently revealed in an interview with ‘De Telegraaf’ a dream he would like to fulfill: to race the 24 Hours of Le Mans with newly crowned world champion Max Verstappen.
“I know Max wants to do something in Endurance one day and I know he would love to do the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I’m certainly open to doing it together. I think we should give this idea a chance if we can drive for a competitive team,” confessed the Asturian driver.
“His father for Le Mans? At the moment I prefer Max… But I also have a lot of respect for Jos. He could develop the role of team principal,” Alonso continued, not excluding a collaboration with Verstappen’s father as well in this hypothetical alliance.
Finally, he spoke about the possibility of more titles for Verstappen: “It will be difficult for him to reach the seven titles of Lewis and ‘Schumi.’ Certainly Max has the talent to get there, but you have to have a very competitive car for many years. And you never have that guarantee. Now it’s easy. Everything suggests that Red Bull will dominate in the coming years, but we don’t have the certainty. Let’s see if Max will have the same luck.”
