Gianmarco Pozzecco’s summonses

The long run-up to the 2023 World Cup is drawing to a close. Between the Azzurri and qualification for the rainbow tournament are four challenges with a high difficulty coefficient. They start Friday, Nov. 11 in Pesaro against Sergio Scariolo’s reigning World and European Champions Spain (9 p.m., live on Rai 2, Eleven and Sky Sports). On Monday, Nov. 14, the tough trip to Tbilisi to face hosts Georgia (4 p.m. Italian time, live on Rai 3, Eleven and Sky Sport).

To try to make full haul in both games and thus detach the pass before the last two competitions in February 2023, head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco has summoned 18 players for the gathering that will begin in Pesaro on Monday, November 7.

Athletes Niccolò Mannion, Paul Biligha, Stefano Tonut, Giampaolo Ricci, Tommaso Baldasso and Alessandro Pajola will join the team on Nov. 10.

Nicolò Melli will not be summoned. “In agreement with the CT,” Melli said, “we decided that I will not take part in the gathering ahead of the games against Spain and Georgia. The national team remains my priority and I will be available again in 2023. In the meantime, I wish my teammates the best of luck. The goal is to qualify for the World Cup as soon as possible and continue our path of growth.”
