Carlos Alcaraz, Turin at risk: “It’s tough.” And he quotes Jannik Sinner
Carlos Alcaraz injured in Paris-Bercy quarterfinal: “The Atp Finals in Turin? It’s tough.”
Carlos Alcaraz in the press conference after withdrawing from the quarterfinal of the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000 against Holger Rune admitted that he does not know if he will be there in Turin for the Atp Finals in 10 days.
“I don’t know if I’ll make it, I have to go home, do the tests and see the extent of the problem,” the world number one explained to the Spanish press. “I preferred to withdraw and think about myself. I couldn’t serve well and my body was bothering me in the abdominal area when I was making movements. To play like that, better to stop. This is the second time I’ve retired and I always try to avoid it, but I didn’t want it to get worse.”
Alcaraz lost to several tennis players of his generation this year, “I lost to all my peers? Rune, Musetti, Sinner… we know each other very well, we’ve been playing against each other since we were kids. Hopefully it won’t happen so often….”
