Europa League, Juventus and Roma’s possible opponents in the play-offs
Juventus and Roma’s possible opponents
Massimiliano Allegri’s Bianconeri find themselves in the Europa League after collecting only three points in their six matches in the Champions League group. The Turin club’s last participation in this competition was in the 2013/2014 season, when the Bianconeri went out against Benfica without making it to a final they would play at home. The number one bogeyman for the Old Lady is Manchester United of former great Cristiano Ronaldo. Also dangerous are Union Berlin, which is leading the Bundesliga by surprising everyone, and PSV, a solid and organized team.
José Mourinho’s Giallorossi secured passage to the round with a comeback in the last match of the group, against Ludogorets. The Capitoline side, which qualified second behind Real Betis, will face one of the third-place finishers in the group stages of Europe’s top competition. Lots of pitfalls for Roma, which will have to avoid Barcelona, Sevilla and Ajax in particular, more affordable Red Bull Salzburg, Shakthar Donetsk, Sporting Lisbon and Bayer Leverkusen.
