Felipe Anderson gives Lazio derby and overtaking: Roma down
One goal to decide derby and overtake in the standings.
Roma-Lazio ends 0-1, with the Biancocelesti not only winning the derby of the Capital, but thanks to the success against the Giallorossi cousins they return to third place in the standings (cohabiting with Atalanta) and +2 on the team coached by José Mourinho. And the hero of the day, for Maurizio Sarri’s boys, is Felipe Anderson.
Roma seemed to start strong, with Abraham and Zaniolo dangerous already in the first five minutes. The great intensity of the beginning of the match then gives way to tension and agonism, until an episode decides the entire match. It is the 29th minute, and Ibanez misses everything on Pedro’s pressure: the Spaniard eradicates the ball from his feet and gives it to Felipe Anderson, who cannot miss and beats Rui Patricio.
Roma continued to be unlucky, and less than five minutes later also hit a crossbar with Zaniolo. Then in the second half it also loses Pellegrini to injury and misses a chance to equalize with Smalling. Lazio could run rampant, with Vecino on Luis Alberto’s intuition and again with Felipe Anderson on a counter-attack, but the Giallorossi rearguard got away with it. Then as time expired it was Volpato who tried for the last time the way of the goal. But the Biancoceleste wall wins out and Lazio relaunches in style.
