Moto2 Valencia: Pedro Acosta wins, Augusto Fernandez is world champion
First world title for Augusto Fernandez
Augusto Fernandez is world champion in the Moto2 class. The Spanish rider finished second in Valencia, in the last race of the season won by Pedro Acosta, but he was already sure of the title on lap eight when direct title contender Ai Ogura crashed, throwing away any chance of a comeback in the standings.
Third place, on the ‘Ricardo Tormo’ circuit, for Tony Arbolino, who thus crowned a fine end to a season that gave him two wins and an appearance on the lowest step of the podium in the last four races of the season.
Fernandez, born in 1997, is in his first world title: his rainbow success matured mainly in the central part of the 2022 season, with consecutive victories in Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain.
