Aprilia, Aleix Espargaró: “Worst moment of the career.”
“It was a disappointing ending, I gave everything, third place was a dream….”
Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaró vented after his retirement in Valencia and the world podium faded at the last: “It was a very disappointing end to the season. I gave everything, it was really a dream for me to fight for third place in the championship and I couldn’t sleep the night before the race. Bastianini was not that fast and I had a good chance.”
The Spaniard was betrayed by the engine and felt terrible about it: “I think it’s the worst day of my career without a doubt. For me, given the level of the championship and the bikes on the grid, it was very difficult to finish in the top ten. To finish in the top three was a dream,” are the words reported by Motorsport.
Steps forward are needed for next season: “This year I won a race, made podiums, poles, but the last part of the season was impossible. We tried everything, but Fabio and Pecco were far away. We need to improve if we want to be with the riders in front.”
