Davis Cup, Musetti ready to overtake Sinner and Berrettini
“I would be happy to take the court as a singles player, but the captain will decide.”
The Davis Cup commitment is approaching, and Lorenzo Musetti spoke at a press conference in Milan about the possibility of being Italy’s starting singles player, at the expense of one of the two injured Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berettini: “This will be the Captain’s choice and it will also be a choice made in common agreement with the whole team. Even if I beat Jannik and Matteo the week before the competition, it doesn’t mean that I am then a starter.”
“We will definitely talk, everyone will point out their physical problems, fatigue, etc. The final choice is not up to me although I would certainly be pleased to be able to take the court to defend our colors,” are the words reported by Ubitennis.
Musetti enters the Next Gen tournament as a favorite: “Today I take the court with a different mentality; last year maybe emotions or great end-of-year fatigue prevailed. Today I feel catapulted into another dimension, I feel like another player. Obviously I have more experience playing many more matches at this level.”
