Italy-Spain, Gianmarco Pozzecco extols Pesaro’s performance
“Those who watched the game on TV surely thought that basketball is a beautiful sport.”
After struggling with head and heart for 45 minutes against the reigning European and World champion team, and surrendering only after overtime, which ended 84-88 in favor of Spain, basketball Italy looks to its upcoming commitments with renewed confidence.
On Saturday, Nov. 12, the Azzurri will fly to Tbilisi, where they will face hosts Georgia on Monday in a very important match with a view to qualifying for the upcoming World Cup. The ranking of Group L now reads Spain first with 13 points, Azzurri second with 12 and Georgia itself third with 11.
In the press conference at the end of the Pesaro battle against the Iberians, coach Gianmarco Pozzecco wanted to highlight the performance of his team. And more generally the show offered on the parquet by the protagonists.
“Congratulations to all the guys on the court. It was a beautiful spot for basketball. We would have liked to win. My guys played with their hearts in front of a great crowd. Those who watched the game on TV definitely thought that basketball is a beautiful sport. Now we recharge our batteries and go to Georgia to try to win a very complicated game,” the words reported by the official FIP website.
