Milan, more than 90 million needed to renew three biggies
On the table are the renewals of Rafael Leao, Ismael Bennacer and Olivier Giroud
Grappling for some time with the thorny issue of the contract extension-with a hefty salary increase-of Rafael Leao, the Portuguese player courted by all the top clubs in Europe, AC Milan is reckoning with the expenses related to renewals to be closed as soon as possible.
Significant steps have been taken in this regard in 2022: the various Theo Hernandez, Tomori, Tonali, Kalulu, Pobega, Krunic, Ibrahimovic and Gabbia have already extended their relationship with the Rossoneri club. Missing from the roll call are three mock-profiles, who answer to the names of the former Lille talent himself, Ismael Bennacer and Olivier Giroud. If the deals for the first eight players mentioned committed the coffers of the Milanese club for about 107 million, the remaining ones would cost, always considering the duration of the agreements, about 93 million, as reported by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’.
The knot linked to the Lusitanian striker is always a difficult skein to unravel for now, while significant steps forward have been made for the French center forward, who should find no problem in accepting the Rossoneri offer, and for the Algerian midfielder, for whom a five-year deal on the basis of 3.5- 4 million annually is being worked on: a substantial increase compared to the current agreement, expiring in 2024, which guarantees the North African 1.5 million per season.
