World title at the penultimate round of the World Cup

Bautista made the most of his first match point. The Spaniard won the SBK World Championship in Indonesia, the penultimate round of the World Championship (last round at Phillip Island). An excellent strategy in Race 2 earned him the title and, for Ducati, the rainbow encore.

“Before we started I felt the pressure. It was difficult to handle that. I knew I had more chances to win but it went well right away. There was a lot of pressure on me, so I tried not to make mistakes. I am happy because, even with all this pressure, we did a great job and won the title,” his words reported by Mundodeportivo. The 1984 class had won, in 2006, the world title in the 125 class.
