Jannik Sinner denies Rafael Nadal’s ruling on Us Open
Sinner denies Nadal
Jannik Sinner, struggling with yet another season-long injury, will miss the Davis Cup finals in Malaga and return to the court directly in 2023.
The South Tyrolean tennis player, a guest at the ATP Finals, refuted Rafael Nadal’s recent words about that epic quarterfinal match at last year’s Us Open between the Italian and Carlos Alcaraz. According to the Manacor champion, Jannik “was one point away from winning the tournament.”
“It’s hard to say, because then I would have had to face Tiafoe (a complicated match) and the final against Ruud that would have been as well, also because he had already played a final act of a Slam,” Jannik analyzed lucidly.
“Certainly the level we played at was very high, and when you win those kinds of matches, you carry that level with you, so it probably would have helped me. But in any case it’s not worth saying that, there were other matches. Definitely it will serve me though for next year’s battles,” the Italian tennis number one closed.
