Novak Djokovic over the moon: “I couldn’t have received better news.”

Novak Djokovic is over the moon after the Australian government decided to lift the ban that would have kept the Serb out of the country for three years: “I was very happy to get the news on Tuesday. No doubt it was a huge relief, after what I and the people closest to me have been through this year I’m really happy. I couldn’t have received better news.”

“Did this affect my game today? I would like to believe that it did however no, I don’t think so because I know what I have to do to prepare myself in every game and I don’t need extra motivation. Of course now knowing that I can start in Australia I can organize the off-season better. The Australian Open was always my best slam, the one where I had the most success. I have some of my best memories there. I certainly can’t wait to come back, I want to play tennis, do what I do best, I hope to have a great summer in Australia,” he said in the press conference after his victory over Andrey Rublev.

“For me this season has been really strange: I missed the opportunity to play in so many big tournaments but I can safely say that I learned a lot about myself, about the world I live in and also about some people who behaved a certain way with me. I am always grateful to go through any kind of experience because every one of them teaches me something. I always try to be optimistic and positive in life, that’s my outlook,” Djokovic closed.
