Davis Cup, Matteo Berrettini will be there
Davis Cup: Matteo Berrettini summoned for Malaga
After Jannik Sinner’s forfeit there was also much concern around the physical condition of Matteo Berrettini, struggling with a foot injury suffered in the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Naples, then lost to Lorenzo Musetti. The Roman tennis player will leave for Malaga, then it will be up to captain Filippo Volandri to make the final decision, depending on Matteo’s answers in the latest training sessions.
Federtennis has updated the list of summoned players for the final stages of the Davis Cup, and among them is Matteo Berrettini, as reported by a tweet posted by the official Davis Cup page. Alongside the current number 16 in the ATP ranking will be Lorenzo Musetti, who will take the place of Jannik Sinner as singles player, and Lorenzo Sonego who will have the role of reserve in singles. In doubles, the experienced Fognini-Bolelli pair is confirmed.
The Azzurri will take the court on Thursday, Nov. 24, against the United States in their quarterfinal match. In case of success they would challenge the winner of Germany-Canada.
