Fernando Alonso still believes in the third World Championship
Fernando Alonso dreams of the world championship with Aston Martin
Ahead of the last round of the season in Abu Dhabi Fernando Alonso is already looking to the future, and in this regard he appeared very motivated at a press conference.
“Winning the title is what motivates me every day. I still think that a third World Championship is possible, sooner or later,” he confessed in Abu Dhabi. “I would not go on if I did not feel that we can have a chance, whether it is one or ten percent. I continue because I believe we will have a chance.”
“Maybe it won’t be next year but who knows what could happen in the future. We can build something together and become world champions one day,” continued the current Alpine driver, who from next year will race with Aston Martin.
“I don’t know if I will be a team driver that year, but if not, I hope to remain in some way part of the organization to feel part of that championship as well,” continued the 41-year-old Asturian.
“You have to work better than others, in this competitive environment, to be a champion you have to do something special and I am ready to do something special,” he said in order to succeed in taking Aston Martin to the top of the world.
Finally, he stressed that he does not want pressure around him, preferring to take things “year by year.” “In 2021 I was not 100 percent. If I do two years like that… I might stop,” although “this year, which I am proud of, I would continue regardless of the result because I know what I can give to the team,” Alonso concluded.
