Fip president: “We have been in touch with Hackett and will assess his prospects.”
Fip president Gianni Petrucci in an interview with Il Messaggero revealed a backstory about Daniel Hackett, who called him congratulating him on qualifying for the 2023 World Basketball Championship.
“He called me and congratulated me a lot: it was something I did not expect and it filled my heart with joy.” Hackett had said goodbye to the Azzurri national team in 2019: “With Daniel we are rebuilding piece by piece a relationship that had broken down. A good thing.”
On the possible return: “I can say that we will meet with Daniel as soon as possible to assess his future prospects. The competition in Europe now is phenomenal, we need the best.”
