F1, Red Bull: Helmut Marko ‘books’ Daniel Ricciardo
Ricciardo will be Red Bull’s third driver
The official announcement from Red Bull has not yet come, but Daniel Ricciardo will return to the Austrian team next season in a ‘different’ role.
This was made known by team manager Helmut Marko, who told Sky Germany after the first free practice session in the last Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi, “Ricciardo will be our third driver, we have a lot of sponsored events, we have to do shows and similar activities, so of course he is one of the most suitable and high-profile.”
After two seasons at Renault and two rather complicated seasons at McLaren, Ricciardo returns to Red Bull where he raced from 2014 to 2018 and achieved a variety of successes, twice finishing third in the final Formula 1 World Championship standings, in 2014 and 2016.
